Abstractions in Acrylic Paint

Using acrylic paint, spray paint, masking tape, and collage, students will produce a series of improvised abstract paintings involving additive and subtractive techniques. Value, color, shape, and composition will be explored in each unique work. Through a set of demonstrated “trompe l’oeil” techniques, shapes and brushstrokes will appear to illusionistically float above the canvas, “tricking” the spectator’s eyes.
